    The short version

One Less Thing is a private space for your family — grocery lists, calendars, ideas, vision boards, wish lists, recipes, and budgets in one shared view. Your family's content belongs to your family. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we only share data with the service providers listed below that make the app work.

    What we collect

Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider, Clerk, collects your name and email address (and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and email those services share). We use this to identify you and your family membership.

Family content. The things your family adds to One Less Thing — grocery items, calendar events, tasks, ideas, vision boards, wish lists, recipes, and budget entries — are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon. Content is scoped to your family: only members of your family can see it.

AI conversations and voice. When you chat with Joy, our family assistant, your messages (and, if you use voice, an audio transcription) are processed by OpenAI to generate responses. OpenAI also processes AI image-generation prompts (for vision boards) and grocery text for smart suggestions. When Joy speaks aloud, the reply text is converted to audio by Replicate. We send these providers only what is needed to answer you; they do not get your account credentials.

Photos you upload. If you add a photo to a vision board and use the cutout feature, that photo is sent to Replicate for background removal. Photos are used only to produce your cutout and are not used by us for anything else.

Payments. Paid plans are purchased on the web and processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details — we never see or store your full card number. We keep only your subscription status and plan tier.

Usage analytics. We use Vercel analytics for aggregate page metrics, and our own first-party funnel events (for example, "a visitor reached the sign-up page") that contain no personally identifying information.

    How we use it

We use your information only to run One Less Thing: keeping your family's content in sync across devices, powering Joy's suggestions, managing your subscription, and understanding — in aggregate — how the product is used so we can improve it.

    Who we share it with

We share data only with the processors that operate the app:

    • Clerk — authentication (name, email, sign-in)
    • Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting (your family's content)
    • OpenAI — AI chat, voice transcription, AI image generation, and grocery suggestion processing
    • Replicate — text-to-speech audio for Joy's voice, and background removal for photos you upload to vision boards
    • Stripe — payment processing (web purchases only)
    • Vercel — app hosting and aggregate analytics

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

    Children and families

One Less Thing is designed for families. Account holders must be at least 13 (see our Terms); accounts are created by adults, and content about or by children is added and controlled by their own family members. A family can include child members — their names, the content they add, and their conversations with Joy are stored the same way as any family member's, visible only inside the family and processed only by the providers listed above. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 outside a family account managed by an adult, and we do not permit children under 13 to hold their own accounts. If you believe a child under 13 has their own account, contact us at axw@nxtg.ai and we will delete it and its data.

    Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings inside the app (the "Manage account" surface, provided by Clerk). Deleting your account removes your access and your personal profile. If you want your family's content removed as well, or need help with any deletion request, email us at axw@nxtg.ai and we will take care of it.

    Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
